AWRSD Mobile Device Insurance 26-27 School Year

The Ashburnham Westminster Regional School District offers student families the option each year to purchase insurance for district-issued Chromebooks. This Mobile Device Insurance Agreement is designed to provide families with protection against unanticipated costs arising from their student’s device being accidentally damaged. This program is offered to students in middle and high school (grades 6-12). Starting this school year, students in elementary school
(grades K-5) will not be charged for unintentional damage.
  
The annual cost is $25 per device. The insurance will cover the first 2 incidents of accidental damage through October 31, 2027. This coverage does not cover theft or intentional damage of a device. If insurance is waived or if payment for insurance is not received by October 31, 2026, families will be financially responsible for any damage to the device or components of the device (e.g., cracked screen, broken keyboard, etc.). Please note that all repairs and/or parts must be completed through the AWRSD Technology Department. Families will be liable for the cost of the device if you choose to use outside parts and/or repairs and this agreement will be considered void. Please note that this insurance policy is nonrefundable. 

If you would like to purchase insurance for your student’s device, please go to https://www.myschoolbucks.com and use the same login used for your student’s school lunch account (or create an account if you do not have one).  Click on the “Technology Insurance” button on the home screen to purchase insurance protection for your student’s device.   Any questions regarding this program can be sent to edehays@awrsd.org. 

Coverage: 

  • Accidental Damage: Pays for two (2) accidental damage repairs due to liquid spills, drops, cracked screens, missing keys, frayed AC adapters or any other unintentional event.
  • Lost Items: Only covers replacement of lost charger.
Insurance policy will be considered used in full once two (2) repairs are completed or replacements are issued for the device.  One subsequent damage incident will be charged at half cost to the student or family if the insurance plan is purchased (please see the section “No Insurance” for a schedule of costs).  After that any further damage incidents will be charged at full cost. 

Exclusions: 
  • Intentional Damage, Vandalism or Neglect:  Will not cover repairs which are the result of intentional, negligent, or careless actions.  This includes, but is not limited to the removal of keys, removal of rubber pads, removal of screws, cord misuse and/or opening of the device, etc.
  • Loss of Device:  Students or families will be liable for any device which is lost or stolen.  While a police report will be required to be submitted, the student or family will be liable for the full cost to replace the device.
No Insurance: 

Students or families may choose to not insure the Chromebook and will be responsible for the full value of the Chromebook or repairs.  Replacement or repair fees will be assessed for lost or damaged Chromebooks according to the following schedule: 
  • Replacement cost for District provided Chromebook: $350
  • Replacement cost for District provided Chromebook motherboard - $100
  • Replacement cost for District provided Chromebook keyboard, touchpad or bezel - $50
  • Replacement cost for District provided Chromebook LCD screen -  $100
